- 3 large honey crisp apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 1/2 cups cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup flour
- 3/4 cup oats
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped apples with cranberries, 1/2 cup brown sugar, corn starch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Toss well to coat.
- Pour the fruit mixture into a 9-inch pie plate or an 8×8-inch square pan. Spread it out evenly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, oats, remaining 2/3 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the cold cubed butter and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the cranberry-apple filling.
- Place the dish on a baking sheet and bake for about 55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
