Description

A delightful dessert combining tart cranberries and sweet honey crisp apples topped with a buttery oat crumble.


Ingredients

  • 3 large honey crisp apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped apples with cranberries, 1/2 cup brown sugar, corn starch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Toss well to coat.
  3. Pour the fruit mixture into a 9-inch pie plate or an 8×8-inch square pan. Spread it out evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, oats, remaining 2/3 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Add the cold cubed butter and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the cranberry-apple filling.
  7. Place the dish on a baking sheet and bake for about 55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
