Description

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the onion: Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and turmeric: Stir in the minced garlic and turmeric. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Brown the chicken: Toss in the chicken pieces, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the chicken is browned on all sides.
  5. Incorporate rice and broth: Add the basmati rice and chicken broth to the pot. Bring to a boil.
  6. Simmer: Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid and is tender.
  7. Fluff and serve: Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve hot.

Notes

For a richer flavor, feel free to substitute with bone-in chicken or use vegetable broth for a vegetarian version. Rinse the basmati rice before cooking for a fluffier texture.
