Description

A hearty and flavorful Tuscan Ragu that’s perfect for family dinners, cozy weekends, or impressing guests.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 500g ground beef
  • 250g ground pork
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish
  • Pasta of your choice

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrots, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Introduce the ground beef and pork to the pot. Cook until browned, making sure to drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, beef broth, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 60 minutes, stirring occasionally for that rich flavor development.
  6. When ready, cook your choice of pasta according to package instructions. Drain and gently toss with the ragu.
  7. Serve hot, beautifully garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

Leftover Tuscan Ragu can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat gently.
