Description
A hearty and flavorful Tuscan Ragu that’s perfect for family dinners, cozy weekends, or impressing guests.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 500g ground beef
- 250g ground pork
- 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
- Pasta of your choice
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrots, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Introduce the ground beef and pork to the pot. Cook until browned, making sure to drain excess fat.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, beef broth, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 60 minutes, stirring occasionally for that rich flavor development.
- When ready, cook your choice of pasta according to package instructions. Drain and gently toss with the ragu.
- Serve hot, beautifully garnished with fresh basil.
