A hearty and comforting Italian dish perfect for family gatherings and weeknight meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 medium Onion
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1 pound Italian Sausage
- 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
- 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 2 cups Ricotta Cheese
- 1 cup Sour Cream
- 1 large Egg
- ½ cup Grated Parmesan
- 3 cups Shredded Mozzarella
- 12 sheets Lasagna Noodles
- 2 tablespoons Melted Butter
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Stir in ground beef and sausage, cooking until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- Mix ricotta cheese, sour cream, beaten egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
- Layer your lasagna: start with meat sauce at the bottom, then noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella on top.
- Pour melted butter over the top layer, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.
