Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 large Egg
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan
  • 3 cups Shredded Mozzarella
  • 12 sheets Lasagna Noodles
  • 2 tablespoons Melted Butter

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Stir in ground beef and sausage, cooking until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Mix ricotta cheese, sour cream, beaten egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese in a separate bowl until smooth.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  6. Layer your lasagna: start with meat sauce at the bottom, then noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella on top.
  7. Pour melted butter over the top layer, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with a light green salad or garlic bread. Consider adding red pepper flakes for heat.
