- 2 teaspoons baking powder

- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract; whisk until fully mixed.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into your desired shapes—squares or circles work perfectly.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully fry the beignets until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once done, remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
For extra fluffy beignets, chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling it out. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
