- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream until combined.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples and a teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- For the crumb topping, combine 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of oats, 1/4 cup of flour, and 1/4 cup of melted butter in a bowl. Mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping generously over the batter.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving and enjoy!
Notes
Serve with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
