Description

A crispy, sweet, and savory side dish that brings out the natural sweetness of Brussels sprouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Set the oven to 400°F (200°C). If you wish, line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts, remove any outer leaves that are wilted or discolored, and slice the sprouts in half.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, maple syrup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Coat the Brussels sprouts in the glaze until evenly covered.
  5. Spread the sprouts cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Roast for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until caramelized and golden brown.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish, drizzle with extra glaze if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

For added crunch, serve with toasted almonds or pecans. Great served with roasted meats or as a vegan dish with grains.
