- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 7 fluid ounces of warm water
- Chocolate glaze (prepared separately)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the instant yeast and warm water. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Stir in the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and salt until combined.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes or until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 30 minutes).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thick.
- Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cookie cutters.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry donuts for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly, then dip in your chocolate glaze to finish!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for up to a month. Use a thermometer to check the oil temperature while frying.
