Description
Deliciously soft and chewy sugar cookies that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set this mixture aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract until well blended.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, ensuring everything is fully combined.
- Scoop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough and roll them into balls. Then, roll each ball in the remaining 3/4 cup sugar for that sweet exterior.
- Place the sugar-coated dough balls onto ungreased cookie sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes—keep an eye on them until they are a lovely golden color.
- Allow the cookies to cool on wire racks before enjoying them.
