Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set this mixture aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract until well blended.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, ensuring everything is fully combined.
  6. Scoop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough and roll them into balls. Then, roll each ball in the remaining 3/4 cup sugar for that sweet exterior.
  7. Place the sugar-coated dough balls onto ungreased cookie sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes—keep an eye on them until they are a lovely golden color.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on wire racks before enjoying them.
