Description
A cozy, comforting slow-cooked beef dish served over creamy mashed potatoes with brown gravy, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- 4 slices of toasted bread
- 1 cup brown gravy
Instructions
- In your slow cooker, combine the beef chuck roast, beef broth, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Cover and set your slow cooker to low, cooking for about 8 hours or until the beef is fork-tender.
- About 30 minutes before your beef is ready, boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash them with milk or cream, seasoning with additional salt to taste.
- To plate, place a slice of toasted bread on each dish, top with creamy mashed potatoes, then pull apart the tender beef and smother it with warm brown gravy.
Notes
If you’re out of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce can be a good substitute. Feel free to replace beef broth with vegetable broth for a lighter flavor profile.
