Description
Delightful sugar cookies with a soft, buttery texture and a hint of vanilla and almond flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Cup unsalted butter (226 grams), softened
- 1 Cup granulated white sugar (200 grams)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (360 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the softened butter and sugar in a mixer bowl until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add in the vanilla and almond extracts along with the egg, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, and flour. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides.
- If the dough is crumbly, continue mixing for another 30 seconds to 1 minute. You can knead it by hand if necessary.
- Divide the dough into 2-3 portions and roll each to about 1/4-inch thick, cutting into desired shapes.
- Transfer cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 6-8 minutes. Let them cool before transferring them to a rack.
Notes
Use real butter for the best flavor. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage. Decorate creatively for special occasions.
